This drama revisits the classic movie genre about the conflict between settlers and Native Americans in the Wild West. Unlike old-school Westerns, Hostiles offers a nuanced view of relations between two very different peoples. In 1892, the Indian wars are fading into memory, and the U.S. government is beginning to show some kindness to the people it defeated. Captain Joseph Blocker (Christian Bale) is ordered to escort chief Yellow Hawk from New Mexico to his tribal home in Montana. After a lifetime spent fighting Native Americans, Blocker despises them. His hatred only intensifies when he and his men discover a massacre of settlers on the way to Yellow Hawk's home. Fighting through hostile Comanche territory, Blocker and Yellow Hawk must find a way to help each other if they hope to survive.
