This action-horror movie is relentless. The New Founding Fathers political party is still in charge of the country, and every year - for a 12-hour period - murder is legal. But Senator Charlie Roan (Elizabeth Mitchell) is out to stop The Purge, and she is building the political will to take NFFA down using democracy. But she'll have to survive Purge Night to make it to Election Day, and she's painted a huge target on her back. Her bodyguard and a couple of working-class bystanders are all that stand between Roan and certain death from teams of highly trained assassins and street thugs. It's a classic American exploitation movie setup, and Election Year delivers, giving audiences a feature-length flick full of cheap thrills and ultraviolence. God bless America!
